I have been reading around the internet that some users have been getting stuck on the setup process because of the dock permanently blocking the way to click the boxes needed to proceed. My solution was this:

1. Since the dock is stuck open, access an app (side loaded a.k.a officially slide over multitasking, by holding down the app and dragging it to the right hand side of screen) where you can access the "share" icon. I had access on my dock to the safari app.

2. Then I browsed to a website and used the share icon and selected the "Add to Home Screen." Once I accepted and hit "add." It threw me out of the setup screen process and I was free.

Since then it has worked for me. Try this and see if this helps! Hope this doesn't frustrate users. It also didn't help that I had "find my iphone" turned on before I updated to iOS11 since I couldn't just restore this on itunes without disabling find my iphone.

I have tried to upload a clip on youtube.

If i drag any app from the dock it acts like it's going to open (from the center, btw, no matter what direction I drag) but nothing happens.

It took me a few tries, but I had that experience at first. Can you get it to animate to where you hold down to drag and then drag it to the right hand side. For me...I would drag the app to the right until it made a window like it as going to open in the small space to the first 1/3 of the screen.

Hope this helps.

I uploaded a clip to illustrate what I was trying to say in the first post. Does this work for you? If not, maybe you have found another bug.

Thanks for trying to help, Albert. Your tips are clearly useful here. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to duplicate what you illustrated in the clip and I had to restore via iTunes. I don't think the wifi was connecting, even though I connected it. Glad I made a backup today! What an odd bug.

Until this dock bug is sorted, make sure sure you have "Allow Multiple Apps" enabled under Multitasking in Settings before installing the beta. I'm pretty sure that's what my problem was, but after two restores I'm almost afraid to try again.

ETA: That was it!

It was frustrating for me as well for a while. I was like...there is no possible way to to do anything. If this was a bug, there had to be a bug to allow me to surpass the process. After feeling that the "share" actions may be helpful, I tried it and it worked! I just hope to save everyone collectively some pain and frustration and hopefully no one loses any data. I actually tried to restore, but because of "find my iphone" was turned on, I couldn't do anything from a computer.

You rock dude you save me and others so much time restoring. I tried all apps hoping it would crash the dock or something. Thank you !!!

Thank you very much albert1028, your instructions worked!!!

It looks like there are a good number of people suffering from the same setup issue. I also updated my 1st Gen 12.9" and didn't run into those issues. This is probably the most buggy public beta I have encountered since they started public betas for iOS and Mac OS.

For me the problem went away after turning my iPad off and on again (hold sleep/wake button, then slide to turn off).

That was nice. I know for myself and others that no matter how many restarts, the dock was still there. I must have restarted 5-10 times before realizing there was no changing before moving on to another solution. Typically, restart should be one of the first options people do when they have issues (I hope).

[doublepost=1498751447][/doublepost]What your "other" solution? The one presented doesn't work for me because even the "share"
button is blocked by the lock.

[doublepost=1498753204][/doublepost]Thanks! That fixed it and I'm into iOS 11! YAY! I was about to give up.

This may work if you have Safari in your dock, but I did not. And the share button is STILL blocked by the dock in every app. I had to do a hard reset (pushing power and home buttons at same time until forced reboot) 4x. Not saying 4x is the magic number, just that is how many attempts I needed.

i can drag and drop apps but when i go to share a link it doesnt let me go to safari (even when on my iphone it does), any ideas?
