I had mentioned and asked about getting back text messages I lost after doing a fresh install. Well i stumbled upon a program called FonePaw iPhone data recovery. It has a free trial which was enough for me but also offers subscriptions if you needed it long term (don't know why you would). I was able to access my iCloud back up (you can also view your iTunes back ups) and then selected messages and it populated every message that was on my phone before fresh install. So I was able to get all the messages and save the phone numbers I thought I had lost. Just wanted to pass this along to anyone else that has had this issue.

unfortunately, i lost all my messages history :(
how to use this software to get it back to the phone? i didn't understand.

download it, using the free trial. Plug in your phone and follow instructions. It is rather straight forward. You can try to recover from the cloud or from a back up. I believe that was it, it was literally so easy following instructions I can't remember specifics. Look on the website, do some reading and try it again. If you still can't get it I will try to open the program again to help you through it. Unfortunately I'm walking out the door right now.

no, it didn't help
just shows my new messages from last 2 days...

let me open it and see if I can help.

ok on the left side of the first screen on the program you have 3 options
-recover from iOS device
-recover from iTunes backup file
-recover from iCloud

You need to choose the option that you used to back up BEFORE you installed the beta. If you use iCloud then choose that if you use iTunes then choose that.

Secondly, after you choose which back up system you use, you have to select the backup you did BEFORE you installed iOS 10. If you did NOT back up before installing ios10, like recommended, then there will be nothing to recover.

Although, now that I am thinking about it, I didn't try to recover any of my messages. I just took note of the phone numbers I thought I had lost, and viewed through the messages for a few appointments and addresses I needed. I didn't try to back up from that program or anything else, not sure if that is what you are trying to do. For me, I just needed to be able to view the information and write it down (add it to contacts).

I'm sorry but it still doesn't let me recover the messages when I'm on free trail.

are you trying to get them back onto your phone? I am not sure that is possible as it is not an apple recovery program it is a 3rd party one. Or, are you trying to just view what you lost? If you are just trying to view them so you can recover information you lost then this is the program to do it.

I'm trying to have it back on the phone.
Impossible?

Nothing is impossible. With that said I have no idea how to do it. I just needed to be able to see the information and write it down. Sorry I can't be of more help but at least you were able to see what you lost right? Worst case, if you are really attached to the messages, take a few screen shots and keep them in a folder somewhere so you can revisit them later.

I know that when my wife was deployed to Afghanistan I had a string of emails that I wanted to keep from her forever. I moved them to a folder inside my mail and almost 6 years later they are still there. I know this doesn't help you any but figured I will give it to you as an example.
