It looks like today Fox Networks including FX are not going to offer new episodes on iTunes.

Apple has quietly removed the direct links from the main page of the iTunes TV Show page.

The pull down menu page still lists both Fox and FX with the older episodes available but new shows are nowhere to be found.

Earlier today Kurt Sutter creator of Sons Of Anarchy on FX had a blog post explaining that Apple and Fox are arguing over money. But it has been deleted.

Money is always what it comes down to. I would love to cut the cord but these companies like Fox etc make it impossible!

Damn, I was hoping to get the Simpsons on there now. These companies really want us to just pirate this crap.

Unfortunately it looks like the timing for this was perfect the main stream press is distracted by the iPhone launch.

Apple has lost one of the major networks in the US and all of its smaller sister networks. And nobody has noticed yet. Hopefully as more new seasons start someone will take notice.

Glee starts tonight, and that was always at the top of the charts on iTunes. So maybe that will makes some waves. It will not be available on iTunes. In the coming weeks this will grow to include New Girl, American Horror Story, Justified, and many more shows. All of which will be available on other services like Amazon.

There is a possibility this may include other major networks, but I guess we will find out in the coming weeks as the new TV season starts.

If that watermark thing is the issue I hope apple stands their ground and does not allow this.

Whats next, buying a dvd and having to watch commercials where there would normally be commercials. "This dvd is only playable on internet connected devices", download new commercials all the time and play them when needed.

If it's literally because of the watermark issue my guess is the shows will be back soon.

Not sure how many people actually purchase Fox shows from iTunes but my guess is that it's significant. Fox will want those dollars back soon.

Purchased SOA last night

So whatever the issue it is resolved now. I didn't get it downloaded so I don't know if the watermark is there. I hope not.

Yep, and I think that's why they do that - to keep us plugged into them. No bother though, I am not plugged in with them and can live without their content.

So after The Verge posted the story they very quickly returned Fox and FX to the store.

On Sons of Anarchy there was no watermark at the beginning but they did have a two second FX splash screen at the end of the episode.

On Glee last night it had a long Fox splash screen at the beginning. Once the actual episode started there was no watermark.

So it seems to be different depending on the show.

I cut the cord so to speak and get my local networks from a rooftop antenna. Between that and amazon prime, I don't hurt for entertainment, but I sometimes wonder if I am really saving money since I still subscribe to Netflix...
