With the ability to sync with Address Book/iPhoto, I find myself adding pictures for my contacts more often...and today I was thinking it might be cool to have a CoverFlow view when you rotate the iPhone in the Contacts menu and it would show each person's associated picture or display a brief contact summary if someone didn't have a picture. Does anyone else think this feature might be cool/useful? Or am I the only one really making use of the picture field for contacts?

OOOH i like that idea. I have to say, I have used leopard, and coverflow in itunes. i think it is exactly what the iphone needs, not the computer

Honestly I think the entire UI should have a landscape mode. Make use of coverflow everywhere possible, landscape layout for home screen, SMS in landscape, etc.

Its pretty annoying that it has this ability andbthey only barely make use of it... Yet! :)

Now that is a really slick idea. Even though less then 10% of my contacts have pictures on them. Co-workers look at you odd when you request an image for their profile. Friends also tend to look at you oddly when you have their picture on a profile.

Also I was hoping you could display the picture of your contact in your favorites list. Easily could have a 9x3 grid of pictures you could easily tap to call.

Love the idea! I am adamant about having my address book very detailed. I have customized my Template on address book to have everything from the picture to wii number to xbox id to anniversary dates. I have pics on I would say about 95% of over 250 contacts. The coverflow woul dbe cool on the phone as well as Address Book itself.

On a side note (nothing to do with iphone ...sorta) I wish iCal could incorporate imagery and photos. FOr example on someones birthday you could put their picture or on a holiday you could have some imagery for that holiday. I have always wanted to see that. Of course than that would also be seen on the iPhone. (there I tied in the iphone in some way)

Contacts cover flow.

Actually, there is an app on the app store called "FastContacts" which is quite handy and does have that coverflow feature you mentioned. It was free when I got it but it might have been on special offer...even so it shouldn't cost more than 59p - I think...
