Okay, let's play a game. Since there is no perfect phone out there, and many of us have owned a TON of different smartphones because of the appeal of this feature or that layout, etc; how about you post what would be your perfect smartphone. I'll get the ball rolling:

HARDWARE
Form factor: Moto X (2014) black face with the cognac leather back
Screen: Galaxy S6
Dual Front Speakers the quality of the M8 but the layout of the Nexus 6/Moto X 2014
Camera: Galaxy S6
Wireless Charging
Quick Charging
Battery Life of iPhone 6+ (impossible I know, but this is Frankenphone!!!)
MicroSD Card
Weight of Phone equal to iPhone 6

SOFTWARE
Either Pure Android or Cyanogenmod based on 5.1 Lollipop
Double-Tap to wake
Hi-Res Audio capable
Double-twist to open camera (as on Moto X's)

THAT would be my perfect phone. But alas, it's only FRANKENPHONE!!!

What's yours?

Iphone 6 hardware with much smaller bezels, with a Wacom digitizer, stylus and a silo to store the stylus in. Also dual front facing speakers. Front glass like the sharp aquos, no bezels and the speaker incorporated behind the glass. Windows phone OS 10 (with continuum so I can use it as a desktop) but with Google voice natively built in and widget support in addition to live tiles.

Start with an iPhone 6+, with shrunken bezels (especially the 'chin and forehead' :D) thanks to the integration of fingerprint reader integrated right into the display (hey, one can dream ;)).

I'll stick with a 5.5" display but swap out the LCD for the OLED Samsung uses in the Galaxy S6, but only at 1080 to promote better battery life. I'd also like dual speakers that mimic the form factor of the HTC M9 render that was rumored before the actual device was leaked.

Actually, just make it look like this (minus the gold and HTC logos since mine will be an iPhone.) ;)

I'll take the camera in the current S6. It must be flush however, so if that means a thicker device, so be it.

For software, I still want iOS, just with a few improvements
  • No more 'snap to top' icon arrangement. Allow use of Today Screen widgets if desired but at a minimum, free form icon arrangement.
  • Customizable Control Center
  • Mandatory implementation of swipe from left or right for back and forward, respectively, IN ALL APPS. This needs to become Apples version of Android's Back button.
  • Ability to designate default apps different from Apple's defaults
  • Ability to attach files to emails other than just photos directly inside the email app. I don't need access to a file system but being able to attach from third party apps and cloud services would be fine.
  • And for God's sake, add a 'Clear All' button to notifications

Thanks...... I hope you just designed the iPhone 7. I would buy that phone!

Edited list above, I would love that hardware!

Stock Android
Agree on camera
iOS slomo and their implementation of OIS
Agree on OLED screen
Move NFC chip to top similar to Apple for less awkward mobile payments.
No need for pin with mobile payments with wearing android wear (or just put wallet in AW)

iPhone 5S styling but with a 5.2" screen and slimmed down bezels.
Battery life of the 6+
Camera from the S6.
Twin speakers but 2 X that from the 6+. I like the tone.
Touch-sensitive home button, not a physical button.
Nice tactile non-rattling volume and power buttons.
Amoled display with sapphire glass (I won't drop it).
4GB of RAM.
iOS9 (that will be perfect, right??)

Even if one can have their Frankenphone, it would not matter. Most here have to have something different to use after awhile, and I do not mean more than a few months.:)

Galaxy S6, but with Xperia Z3 battery life, and stock Android (or immediate future updates to TW).

Having seen Android M announcements, the one remaining improvement I want to Android is a "define" action added to text actions, like in iOS.

Job done.
