I Recently listed a Mac mini on ebay the uint sold was delivered and a day later the buyer requested a return saying he thought it was a 2014 (The Listing clearly said 2012) The refund was issued but the buyer kept the computer. If selling on ebay do not sell to jjprodu_86

Thanks
Gary

I have never gotten a refund for a return on ebay untill after the item was received by the seller. Don't understand how a refund was issued before the return was complete?
That was my error I sent the refund before getting the unit back. Doesn't change the fact that the buyer basically stole the computer

Did you contact the buyer and ask about the "delay" in returning it? If they have any integrity they will ship it back to you. If not, a lesson learned re refunds.😥

I think ebay considers the matter closed because you sent the refund.

I have had nothing but good experiences buying on ebay. Never been a seller though - that always seemed frought with potential problems.

Apple stuff on eBay is a magnet for scams. I sell on eBay, but nothing Apple 😉

I've sold a ton of Apple stuff on there with few issues at all. I always get done on hiking and camping kit.

Only notable issue was I sold an M1 Mac mini and the buyer couldn't get it working because they didn't know what HDMI was or understand what cable to use then and got angry with me and threatened to sue me. They sent it back and didn't get the money back until it arrived and was checked by me. They had to pay return postage and I sold it again the next day to someone who was happy with it.

Yes I contacted the buyer and he simply says My problem is with USPS.
No, incorrect.

I am an eBay seller since 1999.

If someone is requesting a return, you the seller has the choice of either:

1. Refunding immediately (I never do).
2. Requesting it be sent back and then a refund after inspecting.

I always choose #2.

You may need to check your seller account settings.

I have had a few returns where the buyer never got a return label and never returned it - causing eBay to cancel the return request.

i've had nothing but good experiences buying Macs on ebay but 3 bad experiences selling on same
Even if the sale is successful, you’re going to have to wade through messages lowballing the price, or asking you to ship it to places you stated in the auction you would not, or scam offers of all sorts. Just far more bother than it’s worth.

Thats where I goofed I received the tracking number for the return so I sent the Refund. However the Post office never received the unit. Thats the part I don't understand why buy the return postage if you have no intention of sending it back.

if tracking shows that USPS hasn't received the package, shouldn't you be able to get ebay to cancel the return?

Yes you jumped ahead.

I always wait for the return and make sure it's the same item I sent (there are scammers that will change out items with a defective unit).

Then once it passes my return inspection, I issue the refund.

Gary, I'm just now starting to sell some high-end electronics on eBay and I appreciate your post.

It's a good cautionary lesson for me to learn and I appreciate our sharing yours. I am very sorry that you had to go through this though.
