Disney World and Disneyland will give you free admission on your birthday in 2009, as part of their emphasis on "celebration vacations." Proof of birthday or pre-registration is required.

Maybe we'll go to Disneyland once for each member of the family next year. Or maybe we'll send each person by themselves on their birthday, to save money!
 
My dad and I shared the same birthday. That would have been cool to both get in free.

I think it has more to do with attracting people to come when they might have otherwise have been turned off. The price of entry has long been viewed as rather high, and this may be enough to encourage people to come, even if the savings is minimal.

It's all about loss leaders.
 
Even before this free-birthday deal, you can tell them it's your birthday at the ticket booth and they'll give you a birthday sticker with your name on it in big letters. Then, as you walked around, employees wish you happy birthday by name!

I discovered this when I took Mrs. Q to Disneyland for her birthday. It's a gimmick, but it was fun, and clever of them to train the employees to watch for the stickers.

If your name is hard to pronounce, use a nickname!
 
I wonder if they'll let a day slide. The wife's birthday is literally 2 days after mine.. mine is a Thursday, hers a Saturday. This would make a killer present.

(Semi) related: Knott's Berry Farm has traditionally let military & their families in for free during Memorial Day week. That included active, Reserve, & retired. I don't know if that's still the case, but they never made a big deal of it, and it was a great gesture.
 
And it's brilliant as my stepmother and I have the same birth-date :D

When I worked at Disney World Florida we would give Birthday, Wedding, First Time Visitors, etc buttons. It was a way of "Making the Magic" for some guests.

It depends on who you are talking to at the ticket windows. Sometimes we make exceptions but not all the time. Sometimes a Manager will have to make the final decision about that.
