Good read. I'll be forwarding this on to a colleague who was asking me earlier if it's worth buying antivirus (I personally don't think it is).

I did suggest MSE as I use it on my Windows installs and it does the job (alongside a lot of commonsense).

I know I'll stick with MSE myself. Very lightweight and non intrusive.

I also like having antivirus made by the creator of the OS. It just integrates better.

I'm surprised at how poorly AVG did compared to the competition and conversely how well MSE did. I had used MSE in the past but it allowed malware on to my wife's computer. AVG identified and cleaned it up. Since then I've been using AVG for her PC and my windows VM instance.
