Hi there, I'd like to share some content available from Serif (I'm not affiliated, but just a user).

After the Canva acquisition of Serif's Affinity apps, I didn't have much reason to watch latest offerings from Serif/Canva. As a long term Affinity v1 user, I already bought a v2 license as soon as it was released. That's why I was almost missing a recent Affinity freebie for existing Affinity v1 and v2 users, as well as for users that update to v2 right now. Even then, when reading about it, I thought the offer wasn't meant for me, as I bought v1 and then bought v2 as a separate fresh license, not as an update. The offer unfortunately isn't valid for new v2 users that never had v1 apps :-(.

Nonetheless, I was eligible to claim the so called "Creative Collection" (why does it remind me of something from Ad…e? ;-). Here is what the content pack includes:
  • Publication Typefaces Collection (Seven typefaces with over 40 OpenType fonts in Affinity font format .affont)
  • Splat! Illustration Kit for Affinity by Frankentoon (110 tools like brushes, borders and color palettes)
  • Salt and Pepper LUT pack by Ivan Weiss (40 monochrome LUTs)
  • Futuro Line Icons by Anatolii Babii (680 fully editable vector icons in .afassets format)
If you own a Affinity v1 and v2 license, then grab it at https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/store/upgrade-offer/ (scroll down to the paragraph "Already upgraded from V1 to V2? You can get the Creative Collection for free below." and click the "Claim now" button).

I thought to remind other long time Affinity users here in the MR forum before it's gone and to those that might miss it otherwise.

If you want to share your thoughts about the Creative Collection or know about other free quality content for Affinity apps v1 or v2, feel free to post that here…

i liked and used Affinity, but the tools are too much to select
and the system is too complicated perform easy tasks with.

I'm still learning and struggling, too. Not so much time ago, I've been using some pencils, that came with Affinity Designer. While working with them, everything was crisp and clear, but writing a PDF, finally rasterized all strokes with no easy way to convert them to real vectors. That's just one example of my long list of things that aren't as expected. However, if one reduces Affinity Designer, Photo and Publisher to the most basic functions, they can offer a great ecosystem. Going further and dropping in some learning and experimenting, it has to offer a surprisingly usable and expandable foundation.

Remembering that my switch from Freehand to Illustrator also had some annoyance. At least I was missing its simplicity. Recently I had to use CorelDraw and found it is much more complicated in comparison to Affinity Designer to perform certain tasks. Even though CorelDraw is much more matured and was one of the first vector tools that I've ever been using, I still wonder much more than with Affinity why it works like it does.

Hopefully Canva will take a good direction with Affinity apps. Meanwhile I'm looking forward to expand them with add-ons that fit my goals and I'm going to see how this task continues…
