FREE hot MAC games

heya, i got a mac at home i play halo on it, loving it! im a CS pro and i love that game that one of my threads is asking about how to install windows to my mac to play counter strike on it.. after playing halo, you get really good, to the point you want another game, so if any of you knows about a really really cheap mac game or any free mac games please let me know of the game and the website, i hate solitaire, chess and those stupid games, high quality, 3d, adventure, first shooter games is what i need, as u can see i play halo and counter strike, battle field is a favo too..

You cna run BF2 on your Mac via a Cider port you make yourself. I'm not going to tell you how or link it cause the legality of it is a gray area but I'm sure you can find it on Google.

hey tahnx man, but what is a Cider port? i tryied to google it there is demos only, do they allow you to play online?

I really wish I could post a link to you but I dont know the legality of Cider ports (made by end users) so I dont want to get the forum, myself, or you in trouble if it is illegal.

Basically CIDER is an offshoot of WINE (Wine is not Emulation) I believe. It emulates the Windows APIs to allow one to play Windows games in a *nix (unix, linux, os x) environement. It is made by a company that produces "Cedega" as well which allows Linux home users to install and play Windows games (for a fee). Unfortunatley on the Mac side CIDER is only for game companies. They pay the people that make CIDER (transgaming) to "wrap" their game in CIDER so it can be played on Mac. BF 2142 is one game that uses CIDER and so does SPORE. What end users have done is taken the CIDER program and ripped out the data from the game it was made for like BF 2142 and put the data of their own game in, done some editing, and bam. Cider can work for pretty much any game that isnt Steam but I dont know if it is legal to do so.

Of course its the net so people do it anyway.

Another (less fast imho) option if you want to play Steam type games via Steam (TF2, CS:S) is to check out Codeweaver's Crossover Games. It emulates a Windows environment to a degree to allow you to run some games. It is a bit buggy and slow though.

I hate dualbooting (waste of time, makes me shut down my os x programs) so these two options are the best I have found right now.
