Im EVERYWHERE!
Is there such a thing that will allow me to host a site made in iWeb without paying for a .mac account? or any good simple free web-site building/hosting alternatives?

Well, no matter what you do, you usaully have to pay some sort of fee to host a site. Whether that be in you paying them money, or you having to have ads on their pages. You should easily be able to find a free isp, although the web address is going to be pretty long, like mine, which by the way doesn't really work anymore http://rapmastac.topcities.com . Yeah, try memorizing that. I get it from Topcities, they have very little ads, no popups, it's really good, check em out if you want to host ur site.

The new iWeb addresses are impossible to remember. I still don't know what mine is!

As for the free stuff, I don't think you can do that with iWeb. I tried making two different websites and putting them to two different .mac accounts, and I never could get it to work. It's pretty much tied to the .mac account in the System Prefs.

unless you publish to a local folder!!!
get MAMP, forward port 8888 on your router, and sign up for a free account with dyndns. for a domain, go to freedomain.co.nr and you domain will be yoursitename.co.nr point that at the dyndns page's url. post if you have more questions.

Ok, so I haven't really used iWeb, but can't you just export it as an html format, with all the images and stuff in they own folders and such, so you can upload it to anywhere you want (I'm used to using Macromedia Dreamweaver).

iWeb sites

Sorry if I am hijacking the thread. Still a newbie so can not start a thread. Maybe a mod can move this? Have been on MR for years though so dont think I am unsupportive - just feel my help is not required.

Anyhow I am sure iWeb lets you save the site to upload later where you choose. Will check and reply.

I have been working on my first site so feel free to critique

web.mac.com/j4k

go easy and sorry again for the hijack
