Hi, someone recently logged onto my mac in safe boot mode (as root of course), and typed rm *
yes. i know. dont even ask how it happened.
anyway, now when i boot up my mac, it just boots with the white screen and stays there.
is there any free, easy(ish), but most importantly free software that recovers computers from complete deletes like this. no, i have not booted the computer since this happened, so nothing should have been overwritten on the data yet.
i found TestDisk, but I'm not sure if this is what I want to use. I need a cd that I can boot from that will do this, it seems to me that for TestDisk to work you need to have a bootable operating system.
anyone know of any good ones?
