Resolved "Free" storage remains static while "Apps" storage grows

Ever since I updated to OS X El Capitan, I've noticed that my "free" storage remains static while the "apps" category grows in size everyday. Is OS X displaying wrong information for the "apps" category? Currently it says 91.91GB, but there's no way my Mac mini has that much storage in apps, especially since the free storage says 465.21GB out of 498.98GB.

Sorry, forgot to attach an image. Found the answer through another thread that it's probably an indexing issue, but thanks for your help.
