Hello,

Much thanks for the previous help.

a. I am using MS Office Home and Student 2016 on my Mac.
I am also using the Parallels program to set up Windows 10 as a virtual machine.

I really don't want to go out and buy new MS WORD and Excel for the Windows 10 side.

Apparently there are a few free software suites available that do a "decent" job emulating
the MS product.

In your opinions, which should I start playing with:
Perhaps the Libre offering, or are there better ones ? (I think Google has a suite too ?)

Really only want to use one, and to learn it well. What's the "best" ?

b Not important, but is it possible with their Desktop Screensaver, as it is cycling thru a
collection of photos, to perhaps press one keyboard key to lock it on a particularly
nice one for a long time, rather than have it cycle to the next per the time that was set up
initially for it to do so ?

Thanks,
Bob

Hi,

Thanks.

What I am after is a WORD equivalent for the Windows side.
All set on the Mac side with MS Office.

Think the free Libre Office suite is the (best) one to go with ? Apparently there are several.
Only one to learn and concentrate on one.

Bob

Cant answer your second question but as to your first, why do you feel you need a second instance of Word/Excel (or equivalent)? If you try to open a Word doc on the "Windows" side, it will just open like normal with your Mac version and save right back to the Windows side when done.

Libre. Stay away from Open Office.

If you use Office a lot, consider an Office 365 subscription. You'll get five installations so you can have one on your Mac, one in Windows on Parallels, and three more anywhere else. You'll always have the latest version, and you get 1GB of cloud space.
