All iPads Freeform writing tools annoying bug

Tools settings (color, thickness, opacity etc.) revert back to default every time the app is restarted with a board open.
In the video you can see the red pen with max size reverting back to black and default size.

The bug is present on both OS 16 and 17.

I submitted a bug report with the feedback ID FB12410848, if you want you can do the same.

How do you know, this is not expected behavior?

Well, I can’t know for sure, but considering that

1) All other Apple apps save tools settings when quitted
2) Even Freeform saves them if I close the board before quitting the app

I found reasonable to assume that Apple has not designed on purpose tools settings to revert back to default only in the specific scenario when Freeform quits with an open board.

I just checked and my settings are saved to what color/tool I last used on each of my boards.

Didn't have a problem having the thickness of the marker saved, but it reverted to that last saved state after exiting out after changing the opacity.

I am on iOS 16. It is set at 50% to start with.
