I am looking for ideas on what to do about freeing hard drive space on my 30 GB HD on my 12 inch ibook.
I have purchased a 250 GB, firewire Iomega hard drive, repaired my permissions, and Carbon Copied my HD to the new Iomega HD. I have also ran Applejack and the WhatSize program. All seems to be fine but not sure what to do with all the info ??
I have gone thru my files and folders and cleaned what was easy to see and delete/trash.
Currently i have 6GB of itunes and 8GB of iphotos and 2.GB left free on my ibook. It is running slow and i have not had any problems with it. I do not want to spend any money on changing the ibook's 30 GB HD as i will be buying a new iMac next year. I am not a .Mac user and happy with Panther for the time being. I am using the ibook as my main computer at home until i purchase my new iMac.
I am looking for your ideas or thoughts on what to do that might help.
I am not sure what is the best way to get iphoto or itunes onto my External hard drive ?
As the small hard drive is going to be a ongoing problem should i delete extra/unused languages/ printer setting/OS 9 and if so should i do a fresh install and start fresh??
I have never used and will never use Garage band do u think it is worth dumping for the extra space.
Idealy ( i think), i would like to have all my photos stored on my External with just a few current from my camera when travelling. I have a 4GB Nano iPod so really only need itunes on my laptop to move them around .
I have wireless at home, so all this will be wonderful with the new iMac but until then i need some help.
I have been a converted Mac guy for the last 1.5 years and have loved jumping the fence.
It is much greener on this side. Thanks for reading and look forward to your thoughts/ideas.
Cheers Granto
