Freeway Pro 5 vs Dreamweaver

I've been spending a lot of time trying to teach myself some web. I am a illustrator/ designer but have to create some simple sites, for both personal and commercial reasons.

I've been following some basic HTML/CSS tutorials online and have to admit, I don't enjoy coding very much. I have also been giving Dreamweaver another shot but find the learning curve to be pretty steep. I feel it cripples my design ability because I cannot re-create my original designs in Dreamweaver.

Someone suggested Rapidweaver to me. It seems a little too basic. I don't want to rely on templates. Freeway Pro was also suggested for it's ease of use and good code. I know it won't produce the same quality code as if I did it by hand but I have to face the facts... i'm just not very good! Supposedly it works a lot like other design software (especially Indesign) and is more intuitive for designers. This sounds pretty great to me! I think it generates the code at the end rather than during, so you don't have a code view. I would love to find a solution that is easier to use than dreamweaver.

Have any of you tried Freeway Pro? what did you think of it? I know most of you web people will tell me to code it by hand ...

well if you aren't very good at coding, then maybe it'll produce better quality code than you can..........

check out their galleries.....if other people have done stuff with it that you find acceptable, then maybe it's a good solution for you......for "simple sites" it may be all you need

i have used both freeway pro 5 and dreamweaver. freeway has gotten me lazy that i dont use dreamweaver as much. my only problem is that i can only edit websites built on freeway, only on freeway, no other program can read/use it.

dreamweaver. you will get more out of dreamweaver than anything (i think) your less restricted by anything. the only problem is, yes.. coding.. but other than that. its a great program

i have gotten by using iWeb, and freeway pro is like a more advanced version of iWeb

i suggest you keep fooling around with freeway pro, i have built many simple websites off of there, but you can get away with iWeb. plus its much more simpler to use.

Give Rapidweaver a go, it can be very versatile once you start creating your own themes.

I would suggest looking into Wordpress as well, depending on the type of site you're going to create it definitely worth a look. I currently use Rapidweaver, Wordpress, Espresso and they seem to do the job for me.

....i suggest you keep fooling around with freeway pro, i have built many simple websites off of there, but you can get away with iWeb. plus its much more simpler to use.

With Freeway, can you import and use something like Simple Viewer (or any of those image viewers) for the site?
