so i got a new imac. it had 10.5 included but not installed. so i installed it and then installed 10.5.1.
Everytime I use front row, it works for 5 minutes and then the screen goes blank.
Before i updated it to 10.5.1 it froze on me in photobooth.

are these known issues?
any solutions?

i'm really dissappointed.

you think that is the problem?
i'll download it and try it when i get home.

if it works, thank you very much. is this a typical problem?

I cannot be sure. Most people seem to think that the firmware update sorted out the iMac freezes. The only thing is that the firmware update page states that its included in the 10.5.1 update.

One thing the Apple website does state is :

You have not installed the iMac Software Update 1.2.1 for Tiger or iMac Software Update 1.3 for Leopard. From the Apple menu, select Software Update and install the appropriate software update, and then reinstall iMac Graphics Firmware Update 1.0.

See this thread for further information about the imac freeze problem : https://www.macrumors.com/2007/11/15/imac-freezes-fixed-with-imac-graphics-firmware-update-1-0/

Good Luck!

the lads on the apple support forum reckon it is to do with energy saver or screen saver setting from within front row. still ridiculous though.
the problem with photobooth may just have been the old imac freeze problem that was fixed with 10.5.1
