Hi

So 2 months ago I upgraded my 80gb Video to 240gb and everything went perfectly fine for the time being.
Due to a situation, The last couple of weeks I had to use a Windows 8 laptop to sync new music, the laptop had only USB 3 ports.

The problem is that I simply couldn't eject the iPod no matter what because it was "used by another program". I googled the entire problem and it seems other people also couldn't eject their iPods on a Windows8+USB3 combo. I literally tried everything, I turned of the antivirus on that machine, I tried to find what program would constantly use the iPod. Nada

So I started to unplug without eject. I did it for around 10 times in a week and then the iPod started to show problems.

At first, it would take around 10-15 seconds to finally play a song, then it wouldn't turn on and so on.
Reseting it (menu+select) was helping it after the 4th time but the iPod would only work fine for around 30 minutes.

All of these happened when I had around 80gb of music on it and 7800 items.

I checked the iPod for bad sectors, nothing came out. I restored the ipod, put only 7gbs of music but the problem was the same.

I used dskchk, I even used the iPod diagnostic tools (select+play) and it didn't find any reallocated sectors.

Basically every scan says the HD is just fine.

I want to know if you guys what else I can test ?
Would this be a motherboard issue ?
I jus don't want to spend another 130$ on a new HD and find that it wasn't the issue.

Dont know what computer you were using before the windows 8 laptop, if the situation that made you use the windows 8 laptop has passed, perhaps try connecting it to the previous computer & see what happens?

Maybe some files got corrupted, have you tried plugging it into a mac/itunes & formatting for a mac? if you have a mac?

I would try a fresh format through itunes, you may have to reload your library as well, on what ever computer you have now, something besides the windows 8 laptop if you have another computer, into a usb 2 port.

USB 3 is still sort of new, & drivers may still need to be worked out and updated, so if you can when it is plugged in again, plug into a USB 2 port.

hope this is any help.

I already restored, I am beginning to think it's the hard drive at the end of the day...
I kinda gave up. I found a user on ebay which is selling new for 130$ BUT he provides a 1 year warranty so I am a lot more tempted to try just one last time.
I was thinking of buying a new classic but the sound quality and the jerky clickwheel compared to my Video is putting me of.

The only reason I envy from the new Classics is the UI. To be more precise, I just want to have those cover albums in the Albums List view.
It helps a lot when you have lots of music and you can't remember an album's name.. but as I saw at an Apple Store, even with just ~20 albums, it takes a while to load them anyway so it kinda spoils the advantage anyway...

I know I can hack the Classic UI on my Video but I heard it's more laggy and I will have lots of music on it.
Right now I am listening music on my iPhone and hate using it.
