Freezing when waking Mac from sleep

Over the past week this has been happening more and more frequent and it seems to be lasting longer and longer. At first it was a mild annoyance now it can freeze for up to 20 seconds before it lets me do anything.

I've tried restarting but it hasn't helped. Any ideas? Losing the will to live here!

my ex had this recently. you could: reset the nvram, reset the smc (google for your mac model).

she also found that she could put the mac back to sleep, and wake it again... and all was well (until it happened again).

Try booting into safe mode and see if the freezing issue still happens. If it does not happen in safe node, then it could be ralated to a third party installation.
