I restored from backup on Sunday for my new iPhone 6s. I have not been getting my usual estimated times to work and to home. When should I expect to start getting those travel time estimations?

Also, if there are major delays on the highway should I automatically get travel time notifications from Siri of traffic delays?

Finally on sort of a separate note when I connect to Bluetooth devices I'm no longer getting app recommendations in the lower left-hand corner, is this something I should worry about or do you think that the recommendations will come back after continued use?

Check your frequent locations in Privacy - Location Services - System Services - Frequent Locations. You'll probably find that almost empty. I don't think that info, along with which apps you use at what times, is copied over in a backup / restore. I restored an encrypted backup on Friday moving to a 6S Plus and all my data on this stuff was wiped out. I expect it to come back in a week or so once Siri "learns" me again

Thanks for the reply. You're right it was mostly empty. I'm hoping all of that starts working soon.

BTW when my car's Bluetooth or my Bluetooth headphones attach I currently get no app suggestions. Is this normal?

I'm guessing it's the same thing as the frequent locations and the data about what apps you use when also got wiped. Although, I admit with mine that it defaulted to the Music app being suggested even from the start. It shifted to suggesting Downcast or Audible a few days later.

Thanks for replying. This is what I'm worried about. Why is it not defaulting to Music? Anyone else have any other experiences. I'm sure it will be fine, but I hate waiting.

Well, here we are a full week after upgrading the phone and starting frequent locations from scratch and still no suggestions on the lock screen or Today view about travel. My home is showing 11 visits, work 14, and some frequent stops I make during work have all been lumped together under "England, 4 locations, 7 visits". So the info is there but not being used yet it seems.

I'm in a similar position. I'm hoping it will start working this week. On a somewhat unrelated note how is your battery life been? Mine has been terrible today.

So far it's been fine. A little worse today than previously but only by a few percent.
Well, I'm on day 8 and I am not getting frequent location time estimates in notification center (widget) or any notifications. I know I just need to be patient and it will kick in (worked perfectly on my iPhone 6), but I'm getting antsy.

I'm getting impatient. Will it take two weeks for frequent locations to kick in? Any news from anyone here?

OP - give it up. I did. There's the Jim Norton solution we'll all be waiting for "Woulda. Shoulda. Coulda."

I opted for ETA. Configurable. Choose your nav app of choice. Cheap. Weigh the cost of that app against a few hours of therapy - I did, and clicked "Buy". I'm not happy about Apple's MIA "solution", but I have a workable answer for my ETA home now!

I'd say you've waited long enough. Have you checked the Apple Support forums? If so and they're no help, you may want to call the support line. Something definitely seems wrong.

I've migrated to iOS from Android so I have my location history via Google Now, for now I'm using that until the iOS equivalent kicks in, if it ever does.

The downside of frequent locations being stored locally on your phone is Apple didn't think to include this in any backup data, so if you upgrade and/or reset your phone to factory you lose all your location history which means you have to start from scratch again.

I submitted a feature request to have that data included in either iTunes, so you can encrypt it, or iCloud backups.. whether that will ever happen *shrug*

Working okay for me. Also moved from a 6 to a 6s. Tried resetting all settings to clear the airways? Maybe your phone didn't index properly and got stuck somewhere.

Was your backup encrypted? If not, I don't think it contained any sensitive data like health or location data.

Quick update. Mine is working!

Not sure if what I did helped or if it just kicked in naturally. Can't post the full story now. I'll do a longer post once I get some free time.

Don't you need today summary added on Notification Center to see frequent location? Maybe it's not coming up because it's not enabled

Update: As of this morning frequent locations is working! In the notification center (NC) today view it should me that there was normal traffic on my way to work.

I'm not sure if this just kicked in because enough time had passed and enough data was collected or if the little trick I found triggered it.

In doing research online I found a post on the subject in the Apple.com forums. One user (and others) reported that they got it to start after doing this:

Create a calendar event in the near future - about an hour or two from now. Add address information into the location (choose somewhere you can drive in 20-30 minutes). You should soon see the travel time in NC to the next event/location that you set in your calendar.

I then deleted the event a few minutes before the event start time. I then went to bed and after charging all night I turned off and restarted the phone. I let the phone sit for 30-60 minutes. When I went back and checked NC - it was reporting the traffic and/or travel time to work.

Either enough time had passed, or the little trick I described caused it to kick in.

BTW, many users report that it could take 2 weeks or more before they start if iOS needs more data collection.

Good luck everyone. Just make sure your settings are all turned on, be patient, and try the above listed trick.

You need to have the frequent locations widget enabled. You definitely need to check that this is on in NC.
