My MacBook Pro (17" 2.33 Core 2 Duo) frequently requires disk repairs (booting using the install CD and using Disk Utility to repair it).
Frequently as in once every month or two. I don't understand why. I've been a Mac user since way before OS X, and on no computer with X have I ever had to repair my disk, much less once every month. My usage habits are no different on this machine than any other. I do lots of video, film, and graphics work.
Here's a console dump of the disk utility's diagnostic today. They are usually similar to this, mentioning bit mapped errors.
