fresh install, still confused

Ok I've searched far and wide for all the info to do a fresh install for my mac and trim off some of the things I don't need. From what I've read, I need to select "Install Mac OSX & bundled software" (so that I could keep some things from iLife) and somewhere I was supposed to be able to customize my install. Well I selected the "erase and install" and now i'm realizing an hour later that it hasn't asked me about printer drivers, languauges, individual programs, etc and i'm staring at my macbook reinstalling everything just like it came from the factory. Here are the things I'm looking to leave out:

iWork trial
Garage Band
iDVD
languages that I don't speak
Printers I won't use

This is my first mac product and i'm stumped. Please help me out...going on an hour and a half of installation. I understand I'm going to probably have to redo this again, but I want the next time to be done right. I don't want to do this a 3rd time. Thanks for your help.

There is a button that appears when you select the drive where you want OSX to go (I think it's at this stage, you have to look for it) that says "customize" or "options" or something. Anyway, it's on the bottom left hand corner of the window that is open during the installation. You click on this button and a list of everything appears for you to select/deselect as you so choose.

ok just partiton the drive, and start the install. As your clicking through the menu one on of the menus, in the bottom left hand corner you'll see customize. Click it and just check off what you dont need. You'll save a few gigs of space too.

k, the system is rebooting for the install. I'm going to start looking for it now...

options was in the bottom left. The options are Upgrade Mac os x, archive and install, and erase & install. Nothing about customize...what do i do?

problem solved. I called Applecare. Found out the Customize tab was on the next page. I'm such a genius. Thanks !
