Hi Guys,

Been running my iMac for a while now & so happy for the change... However, recently its started to become sluggish. Its a dual core 2.88Ghz, 2Gb version with only 43Gb of HDD used as media is on the ext FW HDD. Was thinking of a fresh install, but I only instal what I need, & use AppCleaner if I don't want it anymore?!

Could it be my RAM, FW HDD or because I didn't do a clean install when I first turned my iMac on.

Please help, as this is really bugging me. It has started getting slower but I don't install loads of crap, & anything I test is deleted via AppCleaner straight away.

Cheers

The most noticeable part is when I'm listening to iTunes & I have the visualizer running in full screen (The new visualizer). It stop's at time if the computer is doing something else. It sometimes takes a while to load system pref as well, & alway's take ages to load Mozilla (Safari takes just as long)!?

I've just done a Trash Empty with the Secure Empty option....

35,000+ items were in there? Hmmm, maybe, just maybe this could be it...

Plus, surely it couldn't be the RAM, 2Gb is alot, plus it OS X, it can run on little really surely. Unless the RAM is low grade RAM that's pre-installed?

So you keep everything on the external firewire? How much free space do you have on your internal and external?

I have:

internal: 226.84Gb free (265.88Gb Capacity)
External: 143.58Gb free (465.44Gb Capacity)

All music & films are kept on the external. Deleted 35,000+ items securely yesterday which cleared around 5gb, but surely that shouldn't make a difference?
