Fried Logicboard?

I was checking connections on the Logicboard of my MacBook pro. Also checking that both fans were working. When I pressed the power button nothing happened. I unplugged the track pad cable and tried again and it powered up and both fans were working. Totally forgot that the MacBook was plugged in and I tried to plug the track pad cable back in and it sparked and created a small fire that I put out. Now it won't do anything. 😩😩 Is the Logicboard fried? What should I do?

You can probably start shopping for a new MBP.

Nobody is fixing the traces on that board given the burns through all the layers.

Here's the choices, in the order of least expensive to most.
1. Find a logic board on eBay and replace it yourself.
2. Send the laptop for repair to a company that can repair logic boards - look up Lou Rossman (he's in NYC).
3. Buy a new MBP

Thank you! I've watched a lot of his videos but they're no longer in my history and I could not remember his name. I appreciate your answer and your compassion.

You didn't tell us WHICH MBP you have, or how old it is.
That could make a difference.

Rossmann has a page specifically explaining why logic board replacement for a late model MacBooks doesn’t make economic sense. He offers free estimates, so you can send it to him if you’d like.

they are looking for work now!

but getting a new MacBook would be a better option, the new processors are worth the price!

Thank you for the suggestion. I will look into it. I get that the newer ones are better but this one was FREE. All I had to do was make sure both fans were working and fix the screen (black). UGH! It happened at like 2:30 am... Should have gone to bed when my better judgement told me to. 😩😩😩

Thank you! Not sure what I will do. I don't think it will hurt just to see how much it will cost.
