Oh dear. Just fried my iphone. My mate has an iPod speaker / charger / radio thingy and I plugged my iphone into it. The screen displayed the message something like - not designed for iPhone do you want to disable airplane mode to avoid interference. I pressed no and plugged in the unit to the wall socket. Next thing I know is the screen on the phone goes mental. White lines, flashing and all sorts of woopdeedooo. I pulls the iPhone out and it automatically shuts down. Pressing the on button brings it alive again but the speaker is screwed and is making all sorts of crackles. I did a reset and now it won't get past the black screen with the Apple logo.

The funny thing about it was that for the last couple of weeks the phone has been unable to charge using the wall socket. I though that maybe it was the little plug thing that came with the iPhone but it works fine on my mate's iPod. It just stopped working one day. I plugged it in in the morning for 30 mins and it was charging. Then in the evening it wouldn't. I'm wondering if the iPhone was a bit dodgy to begin with and it wasn't actually the speaker / charger thing that did the damage.

Well, I guess it's fugged. Anyone had a similar problem or any ideas to try before I call Apple and see what can be done? Man, its been 20 minutes and I already have withdrawal symptoms.

You've achieved freedom. Now is your chance to run away screaming. Quick, before it regains consciousness.

Oh, I don't think there is any danger of it regaining consciousness :(

I did manage to get it connected to iTunes to attempt a restore but although it goes through the motions it falls over during the verify stage.

Same thing happened to me, except it really fried. Wouldn't turn on or anything. Took it to apple, they replaced it. You should do the same
