1) It's a phone. 'Fone' isn't a real word.

2) What makes you think it's "fried"? What are the symptoms?

It does not power on at all or react to being plugged in. Its dead. After it was fried i could feel heating up pretty hott, hott enough to sting your hand for about a minute.

if it really is "fried" then the only way to see what was damaged its by opening it and testing, maybe you ll be able to see it visually but i doubt it.. by the way I don't recommend you do this yourself. Any warranty left on it? if so take it to the the Apple store and tell them what happened, except maybe you don't tell them it was an after party adapter you hooked it up to

Nope unfortunately no warranty left on it.

yeah i don;t know then, it would probably be more expensive to get a diagnose and then parts and replacement for it... imo hope you figure something out

I'd call Belkin and/or write them and let them know their product fried your iPhone. Maybe they'll get you a new one.

yeah i would do that, but fr some reason i do believe the OP used a Belkin charger that wasn't intended for the iPhone.... am i right?

Check the chargers Warranty information. I had this happen to me with a laptop charger (3rd Party) Even though your laptop manuf says to not use 3rd party chargers (so you only buy theirs) the company I got the charger from asked me to send in my laptop and it was evident that it had fried from the power input socket.

They responded by sending me a cheque to market value of a like for like laptop (laptop wasn't new or in any sort of warranty).

Alot of surge protection multi-plugs come with insurance for products plugged into them and major companies (like belkin) should be able to offer you the same for an in car charger.

As long as you can prove you used it correctly and that your car isn't at fault though.
