Hi,

My friend received her iPhone yesterday (O2 UK). She put in her new SIM card but didn't realise she had also been assigned a new mobile number.

During the activation process she entered in her current mobile number and it activated.

She gets "No Service" where the carrier should be, but is this because O2 are still processing activations or because she entered in her wrong mobile number into the iTunes activation?

If she puts her old SIM card in the iPhone, she gets a signal and is able to make calls - presumably under her old tariff still, though.

Thanks in advance,
- Joe

She's just spoken to O2 and you're right!

Turns out that old SIM card had no use whatsoever and she was supposed to use her old one. It had automatically switched over to the new iPhone tariff.

If you're still waiting for your SIM to be registered, ring O2 and speak to the complaints department - they'll escalate it for you.
