Interesting thing happened today. In a math class we are starting research for our final projects. He closed his laptop and when he opened it again it froze. He hard reset it and for the first two times he did this it was just a blanks gray screen. The next time he turned it on it showed the apple and started to load and opened up in dos with ":/ I have no name*". Later he tried to use it with the startup disk and all of his things on it are corrupt. Does anyone know what might have happened and/or any way to fix it?
I believe he said he only had FireFox, and Word up.

Yes, just wanted to clarify: was it DOS, or single user mode?

In any event, it doesn't look good. Bad disk? File Vault gone horribly wrong?

Does he have access to any disk utilities?

No he was not in bootcamp...
I don't really know what it was in. But i guess he cannot access disk utility and all of his files are corrupted. Hes dad was saying there was some problem with the Super Blocks.
