I have an iPhone 6 and one of my friends has an iPhone 5.

He is in my contacts, and his number is in there in the format of 0770 xxx xxxx, however, EVERY time I get a text/iMessage from him, on my lockscreen, it does NOT display his name but instead, just shows the number of the person, however, it displays it in international format - so +44770 xxx xxxx......?!?!?!!?

Anyone know whats going on here?? Is this down to the way he has his number on his own phone?

There is a privacy setting that you need to turn off so it will match the number with the name. I think it's under the notification settings and it's called message preview or something like that. I've noticed the behavior your talking about when my phone has been rebooted but I haven't unlocked it for the 1st time yet, it just shows phone numbers instead of names.

...I don't actually think this is a privacy thing though as this ONLY happens with his number?!

All my other contacts display their names on the lockscreen when they text me - its only this one specific contact that displays his number instead of his name, on the lockscreen?!?!
