So my friend recently switched to a 24" iMac and hes been having tons of problems.

Not sure if you guys can help.

First of all his iMac doesn't detect the iSight that came with the iMac...Photo booth states that there's no isight attached...which is a part of the computer so i dont know why that is.

Secondly it takes him FOREVER to import photos into iphoto. We're talking about ages for a 1.1megapixel picture to be imported...copying photos into the iphoto library has been turned off already.

Third of all he seems to have trouble just dragging and dropping files either in finder, to the desktop or to iphoto so I don't know what's up with that as well.

Not sure if you guys can offer some solutions up for these problems.

Thanks in advance!

as far as the isight, don't know

for the other sluggishness, start with having the activity monitor open during normal use, check the CPU usage stats and real memory stats to see if anything is running near the top that appears odd.

if something is running at 90% in the background, there could be drag and drop problems too.

Other things to try are repairing permissions, setting up a new user account and seeing if the problem persists, or booting into safe mode and seeing if the problems are still there.

hes using the primary account since its only him using the computer...

what should he look for regardless under permissions?

ps - i want to time travel

to repair permission, go to disk utility (apps-->utilities) and select to repair permissions on the boot partition. If still running bad, still try safe mode or a new user account.

Yeah, TT is cool, when I went back, I went back to '81 and bought 10,000 APPL shares at $5.60 each :D. Glad I had my weapons, about got break-danced to death.
