Did you order your MacBook through the HE store in the UK? All machines purchased through that channel come with the basic three-year AppleCare included.

It's a special type of AppleCare that has some limitations when compared with the traditional AppleCare. I don't know exactly how Apple categorizes it in their system.

And they don't give it to you for free out of the goodness of their hearts...it's required by EU law. (Don't ask me for details about it or why it's only in the HE store that it applies...I haven't paid that close of attention since I don't live in the UK.)
