No, it hasnt. FCC approvals do not come until the last minute.
Yes, it has, go look in the FCC database yourself. The application for the 3G was submitted at the same time as the Wifi only model. (The wifi only model also needs approval.) The application was submitted back in Feb and the grant data from the FCC was March 12.

OK OK I was wrong...really wrong. I forgot they filed both of the iPad models into one filing. Well then I have no idea what the hold up is besides low supply/high demand.

I don’t know why this continues to get debated. Jobs said at the iPad launch keynote that the iPad 3G would take an additional 30 days because of “carrier testing.”

I’m sure AT&T is testing the device and tweaking their network accordingly because the last thing they need is more bad press.

You're actually suggesting that AT&T is doing work to improve their network?! HA HA HA! Wow, you're funny!

They're thinking about... really... any day now... seriously.

I've been on AT&T since the iPhone came out and I'm still waiting for 3G.

I've said it several times here. I think the date will show up tomorrow for those of us still waiting. The 14 day return period will have ended for the huge sell-through period of all the pre-orders and reserves.

Actually, I probably should have said after tomorrow since a lot of people got theirs on Monday instead of Saturday.

And just as I said, right on schedule, Apple announces the shipment date the day after the return period ended for most of the wi-fi buyers.

You rather Apple ship them out as soon as possible or stockpile them for a month in a warehouse so they can be sure to hit some later specific target date?

This is the real world.

 No, I'm saying Apple intentionally held announcement of the 3G release date until hundreds of thousands of purchased iPads were outside of the return period. That period ended for people on Saturday and Monday. Welcome to Tuesday.

Had they not, a lot of people that decided they just couldn't wait and bought a WiFi so they could then return it for the 3G are out of luck. I've been saying all along this is exactly what they'd do.

And "a lot of people" = ??

Just askin', cuz I don't see a wide "OH NOES!" out there.

Don't worry I just read the OP and was commenting on that. Just happened my post came after yours. (if that's why you're confused.)

You should read current events ATT has increased capacity and speed in the last year.

Rated fastest 3G.

I usually don't go along with the conspiracy theories, but are we saying that if they did this, it's a BAD thing? It shouldn't be their responsibility to turn around thousands of refurb units because people couldn't wait a few weeks to buy the model they actually wanted. (All the talk about return limits, restocking fees, and how to game the system really rub me the wrong way. Just exercise a little self-restraint instead.)

I concur wholeheartedly.
