From Apple Support: Sorry Its NO File Sharing Either!

I got this from the Apple Support:

My name is Mike from the MobileMe Support team and thank you for your inquiry about iDisk File Sharing. This feature is not currently available with MobileMe.

When MobileMe was announced, iDisk File Sharing was mentioned as a feature; however, the MobileMe webpage noted that all features listed on that page were subject to change. When MobileMe was released on July 10, 2008, iDisk File Sharing was not included. I apologize for any inconvenience.

However, you can certainly use the Public folder of your iDisk to share files. You can access your Public folder through the new MobileMe interface. The new Internet address (URL) for iDisk Public folders is this:

Apple needs to fix

Apple needs to fix this. Monday morning I want an announcement about the status of online services and what's going on with the 2 missing features.

Before you hang yourself, read the website, it now says COMING SOON, so it didnt SHIP with mobile me, its being added after, many threads on this now

Ah yes.... seemingly they've updated the site (4 days later) to mention It'll come soon! When I asked the MMe support, some Jessie reported as she had no clue!

Now you see the problem I have with the Apple announcement at Post 1 is this.

MobileMe is supposed to be an "upgrade". Now I reckon an upgrade means that I get to keep all the good stuff I had but now get even more good stuff.

So instead of making it explicit that MobileMe would not support file sharing they announce it by omission. That is a dreadful way of doing business. I rely on password protected file sharing for some of my business. It's not top secret or really commercially sensitive - it is just good business practice to ensure that only my clients have easy access to the stuff. (I know that I can password my public folder - but what I had before was a public folder I could share and "private" file sharing which I could control. Apple has succeeded in messing up all those pages - and a Public iDisk is no substitute. The announcement that something is coming soon looks like a panic reaction to the mess they have made.
