Alright, so I'm finally back from vacation and ready to update my iPhone 3g from its jailbroken 2.2.1 state to jailbroken OS 3.0. I do not need it unlocked.

1) Will I lose all the jailbreak apps and stuff I have downloaded? (for example, winterboard, installous, boss prefs etc.)

2) So I just backup my iPhone, Restore, Update to 3.0 using iTunes, download the hacked firmware, hold shift+click restore and select hacked firmware, then use PWNage tool 3.0, correct?

Thanks for the help...

1) Yes but there is an app you can run before you update. It is supposed to auto re-install all JB apps ---> AptBackup (You can Google it for the info and decide if you want to use it.

Backup using iTunes Sync
Update to 3.0 in iTunes
Backup again before JB
I recommend redsn0w as it is much easier than PT. DL redsn0w .0.7.2 (available for both Mac & PC) and run it. Don't install ICY as many are having problems with it. If you know how to use PT, then it's your choice.
Run AptBackup if you decide to use it
Go to Cydia and install UltraSn0w (optional)

I used PT....didn't know about that program to back up JB apps. When I ran PT, it created the firmware bundle so I didn't upgrade to 3.0 through itunes

Is there a way to get rid of Icy?

Well, PT needs the downloaded 3.0 restore file which is stored on your computer when iTunes updates your phone to 3.0 ??? (Unless you just downloaded a copy from somewhere on the Internet (very risky as you don't know what's been dropped into that IPSW) Much safer to use the iTunes Apple file.

You should be able to remove it with Cydia. Or install CyDelete thru Cydia, use it to delete ICY, the remove CyDelete thru Cydia
