I work 3-4 hours with my MB. (I did buy it last summer, the one without the dvd-writer)

I run a small webshop so i check my store, add products and stuff like that.
When its "big things" like making product photos i use my Imac 24".

So i run Safari and Textmate. Sometimes i watch and a movie while i work.

I dont care about diskspace, my webshop uses about 1GB for backup, movie 10GB a few music files.

I dont need a Macbook Pro, its to big for me. Sure i dont travel mutch, but i carry my Macbook with me in the house and in the garden :)

I really like the new LED display. But is it worth the price? I cant say that i need a new computer really :) But well....i'm a geek! And sure i can afford a Air...

Is the Air only for people without a MB, or is the screen/size worth a change?

The MBA is worth the change, it's light, fast and the screen quality and brightness is incredible!

i forget where i originally found this picture (a review of some sort) but it really made me want an LED display:

MBA vs MB Pro screen:

not only is it brighter, but the blacks look richer to me.

But what version of MacBook Pro is that? The newer 15" MacBook Pros have LED screens (and an LED screen is an option on the 17").

Whether the new MBPs have LED or not is beside the point.

The comparison was merely to show an LED screen versus a non LED screen - so the photo is a good reference.

I was in a meeting 2 weeks ago where one guy had the MB (don't know which Rev) and another guy had the MBA...

The difference with the screens is significant. The MBA screen is so bright and clear while the guy with the MB had to keep moving and adjusting it b/c of the glare from the overhead lights and some of the outside sunlight coming in.

I really like the aluminum, but I think I actually would have bought the latest Rev MB if it had the LED option... Instead, now I'll wait and see how the June rumors pan out.

The LED screen was the biggest reason I went with the MBA over the MB. It is amazing!!! It even looks brighter than my MBP 2.5 does. But with rumors about a possible MB with LED on the way ... I might sell it.... If the MB comes with a LED screen and backlit keyboard. The MBA is a great notebook and at times it feels as fast as my pro.

Hey same with me... Don't you find it to be alot quicker in day to day activities... I was shocked!!!

as for the OP... if there is one thing I can say, I've been around all the mac laptops (I had a non led MBP, G/F has a MB) and the macbook air is by far the best for what you want to use it for! portable, light, and has a great screen!

I find myself never putting the screen past 1/2 without straining my eyes due to the brightness... and its a laptop you can actually use outside!!!

I have a first gen Macbook... I'd love to hear some impressions on speed when upgrading from a 2Ghz Core Duo...

Definitely! Coming from my old machine, this was seems to run a bit quicker as well as a lot lighter. I had to pay extra for it but it was well worth it. I'm happy with it. At first videos loaded slow as I opened it straight out of the box but now I feel its gotten accustomed to working and I can watch Youtube videos, etc. no problem. Awesome machine. I don't have any excessive heating and the machine is so quiet. By the way, I have a week 13 MBA 1.8/80.
