Hello, I would like to change SE for android and I am looking for something equal in performance and battery life.

What would you think is better option? Newer A3 but with smaller battery and water ressistance or A5 with more quality display and bigger battery?

Thanks.

You won't get anything on Android equal to the battery life of the SE.

Maybe with an lesser known Chinese brand (who pairs the phone with a huge battery pack), but have huge doubts the Samsung cheaper phones (nice as they are) will be the answer.

Nothing will even come close to the SE's performance in the 4" form factor area, Android just isn't interested in smaller screens.

a better place
Being blunt, the price you would pay for a 2017 A5, you can buy near brand new S7 for same price if you look on swappa/cragislist/gumtree etc. Or you could buy totally brand new from some of the eBay stores (I got my white S7 last year for €470 and the A5 is around €450 in stores)

I would go with the S7 over the A3 or A5 any day of the week.

But even then, size comparison wise - the S7 whilst 'tamed' by android sizes is still a goliath in size over the SE.

I pretty much second this. For what it's worth I'm a very petite female dealing with the usual issues of small pockets on women's jeans. I fit the Galaxy S7 in my pocket with about the same ease as my SE. It's just a bit troublesome if I have to squat down to pick something up.

S7 specs are amazing even in 2017. It's a gorgeous little phone. I've gotten excellent call quality on it. On all our Samsung phones my husband and I get some lag and battery drain sometimes on some days, I'm not sure why. I can still get a full day of use on it.

Keep an eye open for deals. My husband bought my unlocked S7 from Samsung's web site for around $500 at Christmas and it came with a free Gear VR headset and their version of wireless EarPods (which sound tinny and blah, but they work).

Curious on what you went with.. I have a 2017 A3 on the way that was $250 brand new. Excited since it has Amoled, IP68 as well as the new usbc connection.

Samsung's A phones are underwhelming and no substitute for an S7 or SE.

If it's an exynos model, the A series isn't so bad. S7 will be better because of the specs and support. However, the SE is going to have the better longevity since Apple supports its devices for like 3-5 years with iOS updates. Hell, the iPad 2 got so many updates even though it was obsolete performance wise due to an aging processor.

Coming from someone that had an SE. It is a substitute if.. a 4" screen, non expandable memory and no ip67/68 is a deal breaker. The SE is a good phone in my opinion. Just definitely not $400 good.

Just my opinion of course

It is definitely $199 good, which is the price it was on sale for last week. I got mine unlocked too.
