From two monitors to just the iMac - How is it?

I use a two monitor (Windows setup) at work and currently at home. Once I go iMac I might just drop it down to one screen while at home. My question is for those going from two to one... how was it? Did you miss the second screen? Is the 27 in screen enough to maybe have YouTube open on one side, with a browser/word, etc on the other? If so, does OSX have the capability to "dock" two windows equally like Windows does?

If I do decide to go two monitors, I have Dell 24inch. I take it I would need a Thunderbolt adapter in order to use this monitor, correct?

I ended up getting a 24" to go with my 27" iMac. I use it mostly for displaying a tutorial or reference while I work on the main screen. I have dual monitors at work, but keep my email on the smaller screen and whatever I'm working on stays on the larger screen.

You need to look at the ports on the back of your Mac, it should probably be Thunderbolt, then you could get a thunderbolt to (whatever the second monitor's input is) adapter to make it work. I use a thunderbolt to dvi adapter then use a dvi cable to connect the two.

You would need a mini display port to HDMI adapter for your screen (assuming it has an HDMI in).

I have a 4K Dell monitor attached to my 5K iMac ... OS X on one screen and VM Windows 10 on the other screen (both full screen). Of course, if needed, you can put your OS X windows on both screens too.

2 monitors rules, you can't go back to just one.
