Frontier Runtime vs Apple Scripting

I remember sometime in the mid '80s learning "BASIC" programing on my early PC (even wrote a simple game program for my 3 year old son). Later in my work environment (Desktop Publishing and Graphics) I was introduced to the "scripting environment" in which most of the repetative actions and simple tasks were run through scripts. I was told that Frontier Runtime was one of the most powerful scripting (what software, languages, tools?) whatever. I would really like to understand and learn the art of writing scripts but I can't find any "beginner" type books on the subjects or anyone really willing to help on a one to one basis (or even a class for that matter). Can anyone shed some light??

I'm not really sure I understand what you're asking. Are you saying you don't want to use AppleScript but instead want to use this Frontier Script? If you use a Mac, AppleScript is the way to go, and there are several new books on the subject, including some for beginners:

In 1992 I went to work for a company that worked very heavily in a scripting environment. 16 MACs just for page layout work and several others built specifically for either Photoshop or scanning input. We worked 3 shifts 24-7.
At that time the supervisors were writting most of the scripts for uses such as job tracking, files location, size etc. and were doing it in "Frontier Runtime".

That was my first exposure to scripting, since then I haven't either had the need or desire to start out on my own, but now I manage a small LAN with 5 machines and would like to start implementing some of the programs (scripts) I remember.
