What's the possibility of Apple introducing iLife '06 bundled with FrontRow? They would have to make the IR remote bluetooth to work with most macs. I found it interesting they didn't put FrontRow on the new PM/PB - only on the iMac. And with most computer hardware updates taken care of until Intel, it might be a long wait until other macs come pre-installed with it. Your thoughts?

I'm really hoping that it comes out in iLife '06 with the remote that you're suggesting. I'd say the chances are really good, I know I'd fork out the money for a legitimate version of the software.

I'd be dissapointed if just Front Row was part of iLife '06. I'm hoping for Front Row 2 by that point - something to entice old new iMac owners as well, and better tie all of the loose ends in Apple's video strategy together.

If you read the packaging on the Apple Remote, it says it's compatible with "...Apple products introduced in 2005 or later that have a built-in Infrared (IR) receiver.." That leads me to believe that infrared receivers will become standard, even if the remote isn't; and that Front Row will be part of iL06. (With the requirement that you have the remote to use it.)

I'm not sure why everyone seems to be wanting an IR remote in our hopes with the Front Row potential.

Has anyone here ever used Griffin's Airclick? It's a little remote control with USB reciever and it's all RF (radio frequency) so it goes through walls, other rooms, etc. And it works very, very well.

So my hopes would be a remote that looks very much like the current one, but where the little "shuffle" style navigation is, you have either a touch track circle, or a multidirectional nav button (to control your mouse pointer, etc.) and whatever buttons or style of controls would be most beneficial,... but my main point is not IR, but RF. It's much better range, and battery is way better than bluetooth. So yeah. Even if it's a USB receiver, or just built inside like an airport.

That's what I think would be far more useable.
