I've been periodically giving my wife's iPad a test drive as a means to switching to iPhone, but I just give up after 15 minutes.

I know that this is MacRumors but I need to get this out:

Using iOS makes me ANGRY.

Don't get me wrong, iOS is SMOOTH as SILK, pretty (the frosted glass panes, NOT the blue-on-white plaintext) and fast (those A-chips are fantastic).

However, me being a veteran (Samsung Galaxy) Android user, I find iOS limited and unintuitive. I find the way it handles Mail particularly egregious. Can't get past it and it's the primary source of my frustration

Perhaps I need training, so help me guys-that-have-used-Android-for-an -extended-period-but-switched-back-to-iOS:

1. How the Darth Vader do you SORT your emails?
2. Where the lightsaber is the Trash icon when reading an email?
3. Do you actually have to MOVE emails to the trash instead of hitting a delete button? I don't see the swipe option to delete
4. How do I hide or uninstall apps I don't want (like Apple Mail)?
5. When using the GMAIL app, it seems I cannot get my iCloud account to connect (says bad user/password).
6. Is there any way to mitigate not having a back button?
7. Is there an app that adds the "Close All" to all the open apps?

I'm sorry I'm frustrated but I truly wish to understand how switchers tolerate mitigate the missing Android features.

Maybe I'll just benefit from getting a Galaxy Tab instead and sticking with the OS I understand, and continue to forsake the integration with my Macs?

Fire away, fellas!

What iOS version are you on? I have 12.3 on my iPad mini 5 and I see a garbage bin icon above the reading pane in Mail, next to the flag/move/reply icons. I can also swipe an email to the left in the list and get the option to delete. I don't think there's an option to sort, but the search feature is quite good imo.
There are a few built-in apps that can't be deleted but most of them, Mail for example, you can delete by tapping and holding until the x shows up in the corner. I have a folder on the last home page where I put the apps I never use but can't get rid of completely.
As for the back button, there is usually a back option in the upper left corner when applicable. If one app sends you into another app you also get an option to go back to the previous app right next to the time and date in the upper left corner. I switched to iOS back in 2014 and yes, some things I found frustrating too. Once I got used to them or found my way around some things I have been happy with iOS. I think iOS has gotten a lot better in the last few years.
Please excuse my English, it's not my first language. :)

Some features aren't available on iOS because they are not the same. It's like with most gadgets, you won't find the same features. When you use several different email accounts, they all don't work the same. Google Mail frustrates me the most. Whether I'm using the desktop or on a device. Group emails from different servers, you can't select "Mark all", you have to go into the email account separately. Don't blame Apple, its just what it is.

1. There are so many ways to do this. Open Mail - Select Edit - Arrange how you want them. I have mine set up as Today
All
Flagged
Below this (greyed out) you can arrange the email accounts however you want. I didn't select any of the email accounts because they will be listed below the Today/All area.

2 & 3. Gmail doesn't have a Trash iCon. idk why because Yahoo, AOL, and Mail does. I noticed that Gmail doesn't. When you look on their desktop email account, they don't work like Yahoo either. There are too many steps I have to take just to delete them. On your device you can select the emails in Gmail then Move to Trash. But that really doesn't delete them. If you get frustrated then maybe you can use the Google Mail app? This frustrates me too because I have several Gmail accounts and a lot of emails. Whenever I get a chance I just use the desktop version to delete them.

4. To remove any App you just click and hold it. I wouldn't remove the Apple Mail cause you can use that to get alerts, when someone logs onto your account, or iPad. Or when Find My iPhone has been activated.

5. Log in online (Safari) Then login on your device. Make sure you have the correct info.

6. Deleteis your backspace button. Or you can shake to undo?

7. Close All Apps is a feature designed on Android. Sorry. Apple has never had that on any of their devices. You have to remember that with Apple its a network of Macs, iPads, iPods, etc so they are working all together.

You can sit down each day and learn new features by checking out the how to's on Apple site.
