I am at wits end and about to try another product.
I have a big house. At one end of the house is a cable modem connected to an Airport Extreme (let's call that MASTER). MASTER is the DHCP provider. It connects to a switch which is then connected to SLAVE (also an airport extreme), on the other side of the house downstairs which is set to bridge mode.
Here is what I notice that is making me crazy. The base station upstairs "forgets" the WPA password often then needs to be rebooted. The base station downstairs has, in recent days, needed rebooting constantly. Most clients in the house seem to connect to the downstairs one, even bedrooms closer to the MASTER base station. A bedroom right next to where MASTER is -- bad coverage. A bedroom downstairs, but kitty corner to MASTER -- bad coverage.
Also, if you were downstairs and moved closer to MASTER, it won't just move to it even though the signal is stronger -- I have to force the wifi off then on to get it to go to MASTER.
This "just works" in companies and other places -- I just don't know what to do to make my house work. I was looking at that huge Netgear signal and thinking maybe that might be a better solution for the house. I'm just at wits end here as I get complaints from every kid almost hourly that "this internet sucks" and they are not wrong -- it does.
Edit: both are named the same SSID to create one big happy network.
