Frustrated

Three years ago I have started this topic. It's a mock-up of an iPod nano with a round circular display. Response on Macrumors was great. But it never got further from there. I waited for the first rumors about development in round displays. But now.. companies like Google en Samsung seem to get the lead in this idea.

It hurts a bit that Apple stays behind.

What's my point? I still love to talk and think about an Apple OS for a round display. If one company could get this right, it's Apple. I still would love to see this happen.

It hurts? Why? Because you came up with a neat mock up that Apple didn't use? I don't know if the Apple design team is trolling for ideas on MacRumors. Most importantly, a watch designed by Apple with a round face isn't innovative. It's a watch, faces are often round. Not sure why you're taking this personally. Don't be frustrated either, it's dramatic. You had a nice design that wasn't used because you don't work for Apple…and again, Apple probably isn't trolling for design ideas here.

Not too sure what you're really looking for except a pat on the back that you clearly waited 2.5 years for. So I applaud you. Awesome design, hope that the seemingly irrelevant Nano gets the same design change.

It's not about credits. It's about me as an Apple fanboy, who once dreamed a bit about this to happen one day, has to see Samsung (of all brands) taking a lead here. Thats All.

Don't worry. I'm not dreaming about a job in Cupertino or have the illusion that this is something nobody ever thought about. Seems like you take my post more seriously than I did?

What I am looking for is a discussion about a new technology with people who share the same thoughts. This doesnt seem the place.

Don't be frustrated. I trust Apple enough to know that they KNOW the market better than a lot of these companies who are making these wearables. I mean, most of them will end up in landfills in their original boxes. Not even eBay could sell the Samsung Galaxy Gear at $99 the other day when I was looking around the daily deals.

There is no market. Few are buying into it, most aren't. And it's going to continue being that way.

Strange way to start this thread, OP, but looking at your original thread it's a nice concept. I'd posted before that the iWatch should be a simple disk that can be inserted into any one of a number of 'carriers', whether they be $10 lanyards, $20 plastic watches, or $10,000 chunky gold bracelets. Further to your post, the carrier could equally be a pair of headphones or a slot in a car's dashboard.

The last thing Apple should be doing is trying to produce a non-repurposable iWatch with a one-size-fits-all watch housing. Anything worn in a 'watch-like fashion' is hugely personal, and I think any single style of iWatch would instantly be rejected by most of the potential market purely on aesthetic grounds.

I agree. Even without the health stuff in the mix too.

I also think that the way health-awareness is being pushed into us is a bad thing. I think that keeping track of your steps, runs, food intake, and stuff like that is beneficial. I don't think smartphones need to be equipped with heart and pulse monitors.

If you have fears about your overall health, and start to question your vital signs, you should be talking to a doctor, and not relying on your smartphone. It's the same thing as taking Aspirin for pain that never goes away instead of inquiring about surgery that would benefit you more.

And yeah, it is a nice concept. But I also agree that the one-size-fits-all is a bad idea too. Lots of people don't want the boxy look either.

Knowing your heart rate is basic component of quantifying health and exercise so it makes sense to track your heart rate if you are tracking your exercise/activity level.

strange thing about this rumors is that I've never seen a proper concept showing that it's possible. All I know is a video from Samsung but that looks more like a Mock-up video than the real thing.

Does someone know a video that shows this technique with a real circular display?
