FTP App needed

I really need a good, free, FTP app for X.

Preferably something that will handle SSH as well.

I know that I should really just learn comand-line, but I'm friggin lazy...
 
fetch is shareware now, only gives a 15 day trial on the free download. Great ftp program though. Don't know of any good free ftp programs for OS X, i use fetch and dreamweaver...

You do know you cann connect to most ftp servers via the finder right??

use the "go" menu at the top, click connect to server (command +k) and then put in

ftp://hostName.com

in the address box. then click connect and you should get a password prompt. Put in your username and password and it should mount as a volume on your desktop.

This doesn't work with all servers and sometimes permissions problems get in the way and it won't let you write to a directory that you should have write access to.

Also you can use safari to connect to an FTP server in the same way and it will also mount as a volume on your desktop.
just put

ftp.hostname.com
or
ftp://hostname.com in the address bar

you'll get a login prompt. fill in your info just like i stated above.

You can try this as well if you need
to supply a password:
ftp://username@host.com
it should prompt you for your password.

For ssh/scp/sft look at fugu (google).

Fugu is the best one I've found

I like Fugu a lot. It is a Cocoa wrapper around the unix commands for secure transfering. it supports SFTP, SCP, and SSH tunneling.
 
Not sure what version it's up to now but Fetch used to have a little "secret", sort of. It will say you need to pay and blink and ask you for money but if you wait one minute it stops and then it works just fine. I've been using it for over a year for free.
 
Try the X window programs

There are lots of GUI FTP clients which should run using X-Window by just recompiling them.
