Hello,
I need some sort of Automator workflow or AppleScript that would do this:
  • check a certain folder on my FTP server every week
  • compare the content of the folder to a folder on my harddrive
  • sync any changes to local folder

I am aware that there is a possibility of some sort of Application for this but I would like to do this on my own somehow. I know basics of automator but I am unable to do anything useful in Applescript. I also own Forklift application that I use as FTP but this App doesnt show in AppleScript Library (there is no support for it).

Can someone help me? Thank you.

Well not FTP but you can accomplish your idea with rsync and a cron weekly job. That is if the remote server has ssh installed then you can create a passwordless key on your local machine put that in your authorized keys on the remote then it will do the backup without a problem.
