FTP help (Panther)

I can not get any FTP software to work on my laptop. I have updated OS 10.3.3 -- and have tried Interarchy and Fetch and the same problem exists -- I time out at "Opening ASCII mode data connection".

In the meantime, I am fine with old FTP software on my 8600 desktop using OS 8.6 -- same internet connection, etc.

Any suggestions?

Did you check your firewall settings?

You'll have to guide me here. There is certainly no firewall issue on my router and modem since other computers including Macs are not having troubles. And i have never before had problems on this laptop. But its been a while since I used FTP on this computer and I just upgraded the OS and FTP software -- and now I'm dead.

EDIT: I checked my Firewall settings in Panther and there indeed may have been a problem. I will update this post in a bit. Thanks

Final update: its was my unfamiliarity with 10.3.3 that caused the problem. I think we can close this thread now! Thanks.
