FTP Servers

I have set up my Macbook to be an FTP Server. But when I connect to my server I see EVERY file that is on my computer.

How can I make to where you only see certain folders? and make read only files? so someone can't go in and delete the files. or put something in the file that would harm the computer. (I know mac can get virus)

I have Filezilla download on my computer to be my FTP Client.

Did you setup a specific user to access the ftp site, or are you using a local user to the machine?

Local user on the machine.. I'm trying to find out how to set up a specific user

As long as you make an account that doesn't have administrative rights, you should be better positioned to only add specific folders/permissions in the file sharing window for that user

Sharing Account

Under 'Add Account', the drop down at the top allows for 'Sharing Only'. That will be your best bet.

I have tried creating standard account. but when i connect to the ftp site I still see all the folder.. i want to create just one folder that is visible.

I put a lock on all the folder but one that i wanted to be public. but you can still see the files that are in the folders

I have talked to the apple store and they said the sharing only account is for mobile me.

The standard FTP server (including the one that comes with OS X) will show the same files that the user would see if they were logged in to your MacBook. If you could see it while logged in, you can see it over FTP.

You might want to look at third-party FTP servers that are designed to do what you want - I'd suggest PureFTP (free) as a starting point.
