First of all hello to everyone, been checking out the foruns ever since i bought my first mac about 3 years ago, really helpful.

Right now i have a problem, i have an appletv first generation running fw 2.0.2. About a year ago i patched it using atv4windows which is now gone from the face of the earth and every trace of it pointing to firecore.com's atv flash. So i bought atv flash and tried installing it 'over' atv4windows, didn't went so well - now both of them not working properly.

I want to fully factory restore, but atv4windows apparently deletes the factory restore folder inside apple tv so when i try to do it via apple tv's software menu it's not working. I also can't get into restore mode, (menu + '-') apparently atv4windows overrides that also.

So what i think i need is like a patchstick USB that factory restores my apple tv. I've read some stuff about that but it's all in the 'advance' user level and i'm affraid to ruin my appletv.

Can anyone help me please?

THANKS!

If your game, go torrenting for an ATV1 partition image, crack the atv open and remove the HDD, connect it up to your machine and do a restore of the image.

Best I can think of

I've found one torrent do you have any other source to download from? I want to have severall versions that I can try out!

Thanks again for your help..

If have a valid OSBoot partition once you get it fired up you shohld be able to restore it once you follow the advice above.

Crack the atv open (easy) and hook the drive up to a mac and you could try http://dynaflashtech.net/atvcloner/ to get the atv back up to stock shape. That said it will depend if your OSBoot image is valid.

my problem is that atv4windows deletes the factory restore files.. it's crazy. i need a 'clean' image, or an usb drive that installs a clean image. i'm downloading the 2.0.2 image from torrents, will remove the hdd from the appletv, fully erase the hdd and restore the image i'm downloading http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4433630. hoping it works..
