I noticed after installing Tahoe that regardless of the appearance theme and icon/widget style, if you activate full screen mode in any app (Control-Command-F), it activates a black menu bar, overriding whatever preferences you set. It goes back to normal when I exit full screen mode or if I use Spaces instead. I don't recall this happening in Sequoia or earlier versions. I can't tell if this is a bug or is done by design. I filed a feedback which I don't expect to get a response to given the severity of the issue. Everything still works. The black menu bar is inconsistent with the rest of Tahoe, so it's bugging me. FWIW I'm using the Light appearance with Clear icons. Dark appearance doesn't matter because it the menu bar stays clear. The only menu customization I have is iStats menu.

Anyone else see this?

That's odd, because I just pulled out my old MacBook Air with Big Sur on it and it doesn't do that.

I'm playing with Tahoe and my menu bar is black in full screen. But it also is black in Sequoia, and has been that way for a few years. It's black in every YouTube video I could find about Mac full screen mode. Apple does this because full screen mode is supposed to help you focus on the window content. Also, as there is no desktop, there is no desktop wallpaper to see through the menu bar.
