if u go to the app store, under s taff picks, one of the apps is called us history. if you click on it the screen shots for the app show t-mobile as the carrier
 
Some iPhones are factory unlocked so you can use them on different carriers. They're mostly from areas like Hong Kong. They're expensive.
But T-Mobile in a screenshot doesn't necessarily mean that they're unofficially unlocked.

T-Mobile is an official carrier in some countries.
 
It says 3G right next to it; i'm guessing it is in another country. Like the other posters have mentioned.
